Vintage Stuff I Haven't Told You About!

This post will only make it seem like I've been buying tons of stuff. But I really haven't been. lol

These things are from that chunk of time a few months ago when I didn't have a computer. The flea market was still going on. And I went to a few estate sales. Here's what I found!

 

Actually these were at Goodwill. I didn't own a single thermos. Wasn't going to jump on that bandwagon. But there they were...all three of them sitting together like that. An instant collection. So of course I HAD to.

 

 This guy is a major score for me! I've wanted a Santa Candy container like this for years. I went to an estate sale that was a total bust. And just as I was leaving (empty handed) I looked up and there He sat, up high on a shelf in the dining room. He wasn't priced. So I asked how much and was told $1.00.

He's German and in such great shape!

 

 Ok, What do you think? Is she holding a mitten? And He's trying to go deliver toys without his mittens, but She's saying "Wait Dear, You better put your mitten's on".

Or is She holding an oven mitt? A squirt gun? lol.

 

 Flea Market finds, and a couple things from a good sale at an antique store. My favorite thing here is the box that the Tree Top came in!

 

This large Santa table cloth is not old. But I was thrilled to find it at the flea for only $2.00!

 

 Another Tree Topper with Santa this time. And one teeny knee hugger.

 

 The little turquoise Santa is one that I didn't have. Harder to find I think.

 

 I want to do something fun with these two reindeer. I might have to get a little "Magpie Ethel" with them.

 

Nice to find tear drops instead of the same old round ones.

 

Whew! Ok, now I feel a little better. I felt like a had a dirty little secret that I had to share with you guys. Had to confess and come clean. Now I have nothing more to hide.

Oh! Well...maybe a couple (little) things. :)

Baubles and Babes!

 Hi Friends! I hope you're all doing well. I'm doing pretty well myself. I'm all healed from my gall bladder removal. Thank you so much for your kind words! I appreciated it so much.

So anyway,  here are some recent finds. From the flea market, these ornaments are huge! Like grapefruit sized. I'm not sure I really like how big they are, but I do love that hot pink one!

 The same seller had cleaned out her mother in-laws home, and also had the box of dwarfs, the bells and foil leafs below.  From a different seller I bought this old button tin with the pansies. It's super deep, and I can tell that it used to have a handle. More x-mas seals! Because I'm addicted.

 Bells and Silver Corsage Leaves. 

 I love this pink bell! It's covered in mica, and I'm going to make a corsage with it.

 This was at Goodwill the other night!

I always check the linen section just in case....and it FINALLY happened! It's large and clean with no holes!

Today I ran to two estate sales. The first one was so over-priced, it was a joke. Like the solid colored Shiny Brites were $3.00 each...so the full box was $36.00! hahahahah 

But I was able to dig in a .50 basket and came up with these few pieces. The Snowman will get a little rehab. The second sale was a bust.

I'm heading to the flea market in the morning. So here's hoping! I haven't been to this one yet this year. Hope it's good!

Well That Was Fun!

 On Sunday I didn't feel well. I woke up with a bad burning kind of pain up under my ribs. I've had these attacks before, and they are excruciating. But usually I can head into the E.R. and they give me something for it. I've told them each time that I'm certain it's my gall bladder, but they've always insisted that "nope, it's just really bad heart burn".  This time though, the gall stones finally showed up on the ultra sound and so I was admitted right away.

 

I had to stay two nights in the hospital. Poor Wellie! She thought I was just going to Target or something, but then I didn't come back. Here she is waiting for me to come around the corner. Soooo sad! lol So anyway...now I'm home and minus a gall bladder. Spending lots of time on the couch because it feels like I've done 1000 sit-ups. Fun fun!

 

 The previous Sunday though, I was able to hit up the flea market. I found a little bit of x-mas!

 

 My vintage x-mas corsage collection has really grown. I've never put them all together though. Might have to do that!

 

 I found a chocolate covered cherry box, and a darling boxed set of greeting cards!

 

 Adorable!

 

 There was a box full of Gurley candles...like tons of them. But I only let myself pick out a couple Snowmen. And the cards were from the same seller as these wonderful x-mas seals below.

 

 This guy had dozens of unopened packages of seals! I think I bought 9 of them, but I wished I could have taken them all! Why can't I get enough of stuff like this?? lol

 

 Then the other day I went to an estate sale right before it was closing. Here's what I grabbed for a TOTAL of $2.00! A couple recipe books, a coffee can, and...

 

 The people running the sale said that it was a 92 year old man that had moved from the home. The basement must have had tons of x-mas stuff, because there were many boxes of tinsel and lights still left. But I was able to dig and find a few ornaments that people missed.

 

 A jar of mini light reflectors and some odds and ends.

 

If you grab a box and start tossing all the tiny glass ornaments that you come across into it, eventually you usually end up with a nice little pile. I love that large vile of pink glitter too!

Not bad for $2.00 right before closing time!

Revalations and Vintagey Stuff!

Hi Bloggy Pals. I hope you've been doing well!

As for me, I've been doing a lot of "soul searching", and mental house cleaning. So that's why I've been absent from my blog. Of course I won't go into all that here. We will just get to the things I've found over the past few weeks. I hope you've been having fun at the sales too!

 The season is finally here!

 This guy was at an estate sale. I never buy stuffed animals but I just think he's so perfectly aged and sweet. I also love his hand stitched pants, and his velvety feet!

 

 I also found a few bits of x-mas, and a neat vintage Betty Crocker recipe booklet. The cover is great!

 

I find the neatest recipes in these booklets.

 

 One of my revelations has been that I can skip going to estate sales on the first days, and have just as much fun going the last day...when things are half off and there aren't tons of people.

This way I spend very little money, avoid the anxiety of trying to get a good number, and  still manage to find a few things to make me happy!

Proof : A 503 fridgie in wonderful condition. It was $7.00 on day 3!

 

 A little lamb that I dug out of the toy box.

 

And x-mas corsages pulled from the attic.

 

 OK- I went to the flea market last weekend and couldn't believe my luck! A 4.5 foot "Splendor" Aluminum Christmas Tree! So I asked the guy how much he wanted for it and he says (I kid you not)...$2.00! I gave him $5.00 and he looked at me like I was nuts. It's all there, and in perfect shape. So I don't get it. I guess he just thought it was junky.

The iron piece is marked 1903! I cleaned it up and hung it on the living room wall.

 

 I also found this adorable German duck candy container, a super cute doll quilt, and this Borax tin. The tin is a repro, but I don't care.

 

 This landscape painting seems quite old, and I just thought it was pretty. I'll use the Santa sucker mold to make clay ornaments I think. It was just a quarter.

 

 I love this tin!

 

 And lastly, I found two large children's books.

 

 The illustrations are magical!

 

 Pretty darn cute!

 

OK, that's all. I'm heading to the flea market again in the morning. The weather is supposed to be great. Here's hoping I find a few treasures!

I'm Baaaack! And I've Been Hunting!

Well that was fun! Thank you to everyone who left comments and tips about how to figure out the big mess I had with my blog. It was YUCKY! The Blogger Help Forum turned out to be my saving grace. Thank you Mishka! As you can see there are still some funny white areas. I can't get them to go away for the life of me!

 

 Last week Angie and I headed down to "Gold Rush Days" in a tiny town called Oronoco. It was huge this year and filled with so many great vintage things. I didn't take many pics though.

 

This is what the entire drive down there looks like. It's just north of Rochester Minnesota.

 

 There were so many industrial pieces this year!

 

 And these "coffee table carts were the hot item. This green one was SOLD for $175

 

Tons and Tons of smalls.

 

And Pyrex was everywhere!

 

 The guy I bought this chair from said "Look at that beautiful Folk Art paint job"! Haaa!

AS IF it's staying in this condition! lol

 

 This is for my sister in law. She and my brother bring the kids to Disney World every year and I know they have lots of Disney ornaments. This vintage stocking is mint!

 

 OK- I have hundreds of mini ornaments like this (I must admit) but I had to buy this little lot of them because I've never found the ones with mesh wrapped around them.

They'll be great in some corsages!

 

 This WAS an unopened pack of seals. I love the candle ones!

 

 I finally found some cheap reflectors that aren't perfect, so I can make things with them!

OK...I saved the best for last! This was my final purchase. And it wouldn't have been possible without my dear sweet Sister In Law (who by the way is about 36 weeks pregnant with niece #2), who gifted me some spending money before my little trip to this flea market! She insisted that I buy something fun for myself. Believe me, I argued...but she wouldn't take no for an answer!

So this is what I put the money toward....

 

 My DREAM cupboard! I can't tell you guys how long I've wanted a cool, old, green cupboard. And there it was! This is a terrible phone pic. But I can't wait to show you once I get it cleaned up and in the house. It's pretty big!

Oh...imagine the Christmas displays to be had with this! LOL

Thank you dear SIL. You are the best! And not because of the cupboard!

 

OK- Wellie wants you to know that we are sorry we missed "Market Monday" this week due to the blog mess.
