Vintage Stuff I Haven't Told You About!

This post will only make it seem like I've been buying tons of stuff. But I really haven't been. lol
These things are from that chunk of time a few months ago when I didn't have a computer. The flea market was still going on. And I went to a few estate sales. Here's what I found!

Actually these were at Goodwill. I didn't own a single thermos. Wasn't going to jump on that bandwagon. But there they were...all three of them sitting together like that. An instant collection. So of course I HAD to.

This guy is a major score for me! I've wanted a Santa Candy container like this for years. I went to an estate sale that was a total bust. And just as I was leaving (empty handed) I looked up and there He sat, up high on a shelf in the dining room. He wasn't priced. So I asked how much and was told $1.00.
He's German and in such great shape!

Ok, What do you think? Is she holding a mitten? And He's trying to go deliver toys without his mittens, but She's saying "Wait Dear, You better put your mitten's on".
Or is She holding an oven mitt? A squirt gun? lol.

Flea Market finds, and a couple things from a good sale at an antique store. My favorite thing here is the box that the Tree Top came in!

This large Santa table cloth is not old. But I was thrilled to find it at the flea for only $2.00!

Another Tree Topper with Santa this time. And one teeny knee hugger.

The little turquoise Santa is one that I didn't have. Harder to find I think.

I want to do something fun with these two reindeer. I might have to get a little "Magpie Ethel" with them.

Nice to find tear drops instead of the same old round ones.

Whew! Ok, now I feel a little better. I felt like a had a dirty little secret that I had to share with you guys. Had to confess and come clean. Now I have nothing more to hide.
Oh! Well...maybe a couple (little) things. :)
Thanks for listening! I hope you're all having a great week!
Erica :)

Playing Catch Up, Recent Finds

Hi Dear Friends. :) It's Me. I'm alive. I hope you've all been well!
OK we'll just skip to the stuff.  I was able to cross off the picnic basket tin on my "WANT" list. It was marked "as is" at an antique store. But of course I don't mind that it's not perfect. The snowflake piece of Pyrex was at the Goodwill for $3.99 so even though I swear I'm not collecting Pyrex anymore (lol) I just couldn't leave it there. And a cute aqua strainer that I've been using a lot, only .99 at GW.

This old candy tin has been at one of my favorite antique stores for a long time. So I finally gave in and bought it, thinking it would take center stage in my Easter display this year. But I didn't get to decorate because I wasn't feeling well. Next year!

One day there was a huge stack of vintage Easter cut outs at the little thrift store. They were marked just .50 each, so I bought them all and I have duplicates of some of them. They'll go in a Market Monday someday soon. Bummer I couldn't do it before Easter.

Aren't they sweet?

Love this bunny couple!

That same day there was a stack of these cute trays! I know I already have one packed away, so I grabbed these for Market Monday too.

I had to grab this unopened box of PAAS egg dye from 1985. This is exactly the kind we used when I was little and those characters on the box bring back memories! And I can never ever pass up a vintage copy of "The Golden Egg Book". I sent this one to a sweet friend.

That rabbit candy tin reminded me of something that I found awhile ago but didn't show you. This wallet was at the thrift store and I think I paid $2 for it.  I love the lantern she's holding, and the white rabbit at the bottom! Such a funky piece.

If you look up Dumpling Dynasty, you'll see cute things! They make adorable pillows with deer and other creatures too!

I found a vintage "Farm Lotto" game with such sweet little cards.

Now and then I get lucky and find vintage x-mas at Goodwill. These Holt Howard candle holders for $1.99 each plus the tin and a bag full of sugar bells and foil leaves were a great surprise!

This is the second time I've found bags of x-mas stuff like this at GW. The last time it was old bottle brush trees with mercury glass beads. Both times the things still had dealer tags attached to them. So I guess antique dealers sometimes donate their leftovers when they quit selling.

So that's that! I hope you guys have been finding some fun things too. Or maybe you've been having fun gardening??? I'm really excited to start buying flowers and to get the yard looking pretty!
Oh! I did go to one estate sale a couple weeks ago. I'll be back soon with pics of what I found.
Talk to you soon-
Erica :)

Two Blogs That I Want To Tell You About!

Hey there Pals!
There are a couple blogs I started following recently that I want to make
sure you know about. These gals both love Vintage Christmas,
Pyrex, and so many other things that we all love to collect.

The first blog is Evie's Haus!
Evie has been making vintage ornament wreaths like crazy this year!
Above is a peek at one she did for a friend. How cute is that?

And because she loves making wreaths she's been going to the thrift stores just about every day looking for ornaments! You wouldn't believe the luck she's had.

Oh, she also has one of those RARE husbands that will go with her and even help gather vintage Christmas stuff! He likes it just as much as she does!
In my dreams!  LOL

You can find Evie's button on my left sidebar! If you visit her and would be so kind, it would be great if you could add it to yours as well! She's really nice and you're going to love her blog!

***make sure to look waaay back at her posts! There are great wreaths and vintage Christmas things "back there" in Oct and Nov!

OK- The other blog I want to tell you about is Melissa's Antiques!

Melissa has a wonderful antique booth in Indiana! I really want to dig through it!

As you can see she has a fondness for kitchen items, vintage tins, jadeite, and fire king!

But what's really fun is that Melissa will show us everything before she puts it into her booth!

And she finds really great stuff!

I just know that you'll love Melissa's Blog! I don't have a button for her yet but please be sure to follow the link and visit her! She's a hard working girl, doing all of this while going for her MBA and working full time! Wow!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Erica :)

So Then The Next Day...

I went to Annie's, my favorite antique store in my home town.
You guys are probably getting so sick of my x-mas posts. If you can just bare with me through Dec.
I promise I'll take a good long break from bringing home x-mas stuff!

Won't this Snow Ball box be great for displaying with my vintage Snowmen?

So first I have to tell you that everything was marked super cheap. Like .50 to $2.00.
And because I want to do a Christmas craft show next year I just started scooping things up.

I was super excited to find lots of little deer!

These will be great in a wreath!

 A cute little gang!

Lots of bells and even a reindeer with TWO antlers this time! lol

 A medium sized wreath.

And pretty ornaments.

But you won't believe what happened.  This is a store that I've been shopping at since I was about 15. And it's a small town (or it used to be) where everyone pretty much knows each other. I love this place so much. First of all, even if only one woman is scheduled to work, there is always at least four of them sitting at the big table by the register just talking and drinking coffee. And they're all "little old ladies" if I may use those words.
Almost everything that I bought came from the same booth, and that woman was there...drinking coffee of course. And as I went to pay she said "Give her half off of everything".
And I said "Nope, absolutely not"! And we argued back and forth and I said "How about 10% off, that would be wonderful?" And she said "You better take half because tomorrow I'm going to put a sign up that says half off of all Christmas". Fine!  :)
She went home then, and the other ladies told me not to worry about it because they know that her house is PACKED and she just needs to sell stuff.

So that was a fun day in my home town. I'm heading back out to my parent's house now to load up all of my bins of x-mas decorations. I store them there because I just don't have the room. I promise that I won't stop at any of the shops! lol
Hope you're all having a great day! It's snowing here in MN!

What Was The Deal With Market Monday? (and a few finds)

Hello there my Dear Bloggy Pals!
I'm sorry about the confusion with "Market Monday". Here's what happened. First of all the day started off with a very nasty email from someone who read a post of mine. And by nasty I mean that this woman was completely out of her mind. But more importantly she was so very wrong, both about me and the post itself because she didn't read it closely. So after immediately deleting the comment I got right to work on my "Market Monday" post.

(Several weeks ago I scored this big concrete planter for $9 at the 50% off day of an Estate Sale)

So then my market started at 5:00pm and right away I started having problems with
being able to contact any of my customers. Every sale was from someone
that had a no-reply email and a completely blank profile.

(Vintage aqua plates marked "Poppy Trail by Metlox", found at Goodwill for .99 each)

So after waiting all evening with no contact, and not even knowing if they were serious buyers...I just decided to shut it down. It was just "one of those days"!

(A bunch of spun heads, including a jumbo one, found at my favorite antique store)

Now let me say that each of these customers ended up being REAL (and very nice) !
They contacted me by last night and it all worked out. And of course I appreciate them shopping at my little market so much!

Did you think I could get through a post w/o showing any x-mas stuff? Haa!
Fun "smalls" from that same antique store.

Now for my "SOAP BOX".
I believe that It's frustrating for many bloggers who receive comments from people who have Google profiles that are totally empty, and a no-reply email address. I get that it's each person's right to create their online identity whichever way they choose. But I can't tell you how often I want to thank someone for a kind comment they've left on my blog, and I can not. And it's even worse when someone has asked a question and then I go to answer it and it says "no-reply". I worry that they'll think I'm being so rude to not even answer.
And it really makes things difficult when it involves my "Market Mondays".

( Because I love tacky spun cotton characters so much, I felt I should have some that are encapsulated forever in "unbreakable" plastic! lol They were a good deal on EBay )

So, that's the story! I'm just suggesting that if you have a no-reply email address you might want to consider changing it, or just make sure that you leave us a way to get a hold of you when we need to.

Here is a helpful tip: If you name your dog Noel (not Noelle) you can easily find her name on an assortment of Holiday décor...making it even more tempting to buy! :)
These were each .50 at that 50% off Estate Sale. I think I will cut a hole in the round piece to make it a feather tree skirt.

OK- I will re post my previous "Market Monday" this coming Monday the 18th at 5:00 central time. I'll be sure to add more items too!

Thank you all so much! I hope you're having a great week.
Erica :)

Even More Vintage Christmas!

I really AM decorating with all of this stuff I buy, and not just storing it away. But boy it's so difficult when your greatest passion (as far as collecting go's) is vintage Christmas, and the shops are full of it right now!
I can't stay away!

One of my new x-mas collections is boxes with great old graphics. This card box and the two tie boxes were each a dollar at Annie's! I'll use them to store glass garland in, and then display too.

I gave a few of these to Tammy for her wreath! It's so fun to find them for .50 or $1.00 each!

This was at the thrift store for $1.  So cute to melt butter or chocolate on the stove! You know, because melting butter needs to be cute! ???

Vintage seals from Annie's. I love the "Guard Duty" one!

I think most of these went to Tammy. I found a lot that day!

I've been able to hang out with my sister a lot over the past couple of weeks because her BF is out of town. One night we went to a great antique store and I found one dealer that had really fare prices!
The handmade tree skirt fits my new aluminum tree just great, and it was $3.50!

I've looked at this card box on EBay for years, but it's always more than I want to spend. I was so excited to find it for $4.50! My sister was laughing at how ridiculous I was acting!
Three Rudolf's at $2.00 each!

These ornaments each came from a different store, but my favorite is the aqua bell. It was .25 at the thrift, and the only thing I bought that day. I love days like that! I find a little "gem", and don't have to feel any guilt. Haaa!

Corsage supplies! My favorite!

Wellie wanted to show you another ornament. Though not vintage, we quite like it!

OK, The next few posts will show my decorating and I've been making things, so I'm going to have a SHOP UPDATE COMING SOON!
Happy Holiday's Friends!
