Where Are You Christmas?

Hi, My Bloggy Pals! I'm here. Still alive. :)

I hope you're all doing well! Tonight I'm staying out at my parent's house and so I thought it would be a great chance to finally do a post. I'm now without a computer at my place! My new ( in February) laptop already bit the dust, and I had to send it back to "Dell".

Anyways...I've been working on some "self improvement" this summer. Yes, that's what we shall call it. ;)  And so I haven't been going to many sales or the flea market. But I did go to one a couple weeks ago. Boy, did it feel good! Ok, here's what I found.....

 

Such terrible pics! Sorry. But anyways...two knee huggers, a Santa corsage, an unopened plastic tablecloth, a mesh stocking, and other little bits. I wonder if those bells glow in the dark.  

 

This sale showed tons of vintage x-mas in the photos. But I don't "play the game" like I used to, and so I got there late...right when it started. I was #48 in line.

 

I lucked out and was able to grab the last bit of x-mas stuff.

But it was kind of hard to watch all the dealers with their piles of it. Oh well...they got there at 3:00AM probably, so they deserve it!

 

 In the garage I found a big stack of vintage lanterns, including an unopened package with super cute graphics!

 

 My favorite find of the day were these vintage sparklers! I've never found them before, and now I have an instant collection! I love the one that says "Western Sparklers".

 

 Girls, I've been kicking myself for not taking a pic of the kitchen in this home. The stove-top and oven were the most perfect shade of vintage aqua. And the oven was set into a little brick wall. It could not have been cuter. The house it self was painted aqua too.

Above are a pair of valances that she must have used in the kitchen!

Yes, I didn't even wash that McCoy pot before taking its photo. Sorry!

 

 And then there were Easter things, and a pretty, cotton tablecloth.

 

So that's that! It felt really good to get back to doing something that I love!

I've missed blogging too. And I appreciate that many of you checked up on me while I was away. It's great to have such sweet friends out there.

 

Hey- I know you'll think I'm CRAZY, but I've already been thinking about hosting a x-mas swap again this year. And I think I've thought of something fun. So keep it in mind for when the time comes. ;)

Well That Was Fun!

 On Sunday I didn't feel well. I woke up with a bad burning kind of pain up under my ribs. I've had these attacks before, and they are excruciating. But usually I can head into the E.R. and they give me something for it. I've told them each time that I'm certain it's my gall bladder, but they've always insisted that "nope, it's just really bad heart burn".  This time though, the gall stones finally showed up on the ultra sound and so I was admitted right away.

 

I had to stay two nights in the hospital. Poor Wellie! She thought I was just going to Target or something, but then I didn't come back. Here she is waiting for me to come around the corner. Soooo sad! lol So anyway...now I'm home and minus a gall bladder. Spending lots of time on the couch because it feels like I've done 1000 sit-ups. Fun fun!

 

 The previous Sunday though, I was able to hit up the flea market. I found a little bit of x-mas!

 

 My vintage x-mas corsage collection has really grown. I've never put them all together though. Might have to do that!

 

 I found a chocolate covered cherry box, and a darling boxed set of greeting cards!

 

 Adorable!

 

 There was a box full of Gurley candles...like tons of them. But I only let myself pick out a couple Snowmen. And the cards were from the same seller as these wonderful x-mas seals below.

 

 This guy had dozens of unopened packages of seals! I think I bought 9 of them, but I wished I could have taken them all! Why can't I get enough of stuff like this?? lol

 

 Then the other day I went to an estate sale right before it was closing. Here's what I grabbed for a TOTAL of $2.00! A couple recipe books, a coffee can, and...

 

 The people running the sale said that it was a 92 year old man that had moved from the home. The basement must have had tons of x-mas stuff, because there were many boxes of tinsel and lights still left. But I was able to dig and find a few ornaments that people missed.

 

 A jar of mini light reflectors and some odds and ends.

 

If you grab a box and start tossing all the tiny glass ornaments that you come across into it, eventually you usually end up with a nice little pile. I love that large vile of pink glitter too!

Not bad for $2.00 right before closing time!

Revalations and Vintagey Stuff!

Hi Bloggy Pals. I hope you've been doing well!

As for me, I've been doing a lot of "soul searching", and mental house cleaning. So that's why I've been absent from my blog. Of course I won't go into all that here. We will just get to the things I've found over the past few weeks. I hope you've been having fun at the sales too!

 The season is finally here!

 This guy was at an estate sale. I never buy stuffed animals but I just think he's so perfectly aged and sweet. I also love his hand stitched pants, and his velvety feet!

 

 I also found a few bits of x-mas, and a neat vintage Betty Crocker recipe booklet. The cover is great!

 

I find the neatest recipes in these booklets.

 

 One of my revelations has been that I can skip going to estate sales on the first days, and have just as much fun going the last day...when things are half off and there aren't tons of people.

This way I spend very little money, avoid the anxiety of trying to get a good number, and  still manage to find a few things to make me happy!

Proof : A 503 fridgie in wonderful condition. It was $7.00 on day 3!

 

 A little lamb that I dug out of the toy box.

 

And x-mas corsages pulled from the attic.

 

 OK- I went to the flea market last weekend and couldn't believe my luck! A 4.5 foot "Splendor" Aluminum Christmas Tree! So I asked the guy how much he wanted for it and he says (I kid you not)...$2.00! I gave him $5.00 and he looked at me like I was nuts. It's all there, and in perfect shape. So I don't get it. I guess he just thought it was junky.

The iron piece is marked 1903! I cleaned it up and hung it on the living room wall.

 

 I also found this adorable German duck candy container, a super cute doll quilt, and this Borax tin. The tin is a repro, but I don't care.

 

 This landscape painting seems quite old, and I just thought it was pretty. I'll use the Santa sucker mold to make clay ornaments I think. It was just a quarter.

 

 I love this tin!

 

 And lastly, I found two large children's books.

 

 The illustrations are magical!

 

 Pretty darn cute!

 

OK, that's all. I'm heading to the flea market again in the morning. The weather is supposed to be great. Here's hoping I find a few treasures!

I Have To Cancel! Also, Coffee and Kitchen Stuff!

Hi Guys. I have to let you know that I can't post my Market Monday post. I had it all ready to go and now it's gone! I'm so annoyed with Blogger right now. I know that I didn't delete the post, so I don't know what the heck is going on. I keep "refreshing" the page to see if it reappears. No luck. I might have to re-do everything. Uuuggh! So I'm sorry, THERE WON'T BE A MARKET TONIGHT. :(

Oh well. I've found some more vintage Easter things over the last few days. 

So I'll try to add them in for next time. Hopefully I can have the sale next Monday.

This retro style clock is in our kitchen. I found it at a little gift shop and it was only like $15.00. I looked them up online because I thought some of you might want to find one, since the real vintage ones can be hard to find and expensive. Here's the link to one in MINT GREEN. Mine is more like a robins egg blue.

This picture is how I've got the space above our sink decorated right now. Kind of fun for Spring. 

This big cardboard advertisement was probably used in a grocery store long ago. My Mom and I saw it in an antique store and just knew that I had to have it! I have a "thing" about my half'n half. I'm very picky about how fresh it has to be before I will pour it into my cup of coffee! Anyway, the sign was too expensive so I didn't buy it and then I got a wonderful surprise on Christmas Day! My Aunt Judy went and bought it for me! So sweet of her! :)

 LOL I know this is bad but every time I look at it I think that the kids are thinking "Goodbye Mom, Thanks for the cereal covered with half n' half"! And the Dad is thinking "We are soooo getting it on tonight"! LOL

 Here's one of the many methods of making coffee in our kitchen. We are all about coffee!

We need to order more espresso pods for this machine but it's great for making lattes at home.

 But this little "Bialetti" is great for making espresso too! It goes right on top of the stove and best of all  they're quite inexpensive.

In one cabinet we have assorted colors of Fiestaware mugs. But in the other one we keep our fun mugs!

 Don't know why I'm showing this. But every morning I have a Caribou coffee from the Keurig.

These are really my favorite thing right now though. They're great! And they save Me (someone who used to buy a Venti Iced Mocha or Latte every single day) a ton of money! These packets say that you're supposed to add 475 ml of water. But if you're a true coffee lover you'll find that to be way too watery. So I do 1 and  1/3 cups of cold water, ice, and half'n half, in a tall glass.  This is what I have in the afternoon, when I'm CRAVING. I highly recommend them. Both the caramel and the plain coffee flavored ones are great! :)
