Where Are You Christmas?

Hi, My Bloggy Pals! I'm here. Still alive. :)

I hope you're all doing well! Tonight I'm staying out at my parent's house and so I thought it would be a great chance to finally do a post. I'm now without a computer at my place! My new ( in February) laptop already bit the dust, and I had to send it back to "Dell".

Anyways...I've been working on some "self improvement" this summer. Yes, that's what we shall call it. ;)  And so I haven't been going to many sales or the flea market. But I did go to one a couple weeks ago. Boy, did it feel good! Ok, here's what I found.....

 

Such terrible pics! Sorry. But anyways...two knee huggers, a Santa corsage, an unopened plastic tablecloth, a mesh stocking, and other little bits. I wonder if those bells glow in the dark.  

 

This sale showed tons of vintage x-mas in the photos. But I don't "play the game" like I used to, and so I got there late...right when it started. I was #48 in line.

 

I lucked out and was able to grab the last bit of x-mas stuff.

But it was kind of hard to watch all the dealers with their piles of it. Oh well...they got there at 3:00AM probably, so they deserve it!

 

 In the garage I found a big stack of vintage lanterns, including an unopened package with super cute graphics!

 

 My favorite find of the day were these vintage sparklers! I've never found them before, and now I have an instant collection! I love the one that says "Western Sparklers".

 

 Girls, I've been kicking myself for not taking a pic of the kitchen in this home. The stove-top and oven were the most perfect shade of vintage aqua. And the oven was set into a little brick wall. It could not have been cuter. The house it self was painted aqua too.

Above are a pair of valances that she must have used in the kitchen!

Yes, I didn't even wash that McCoy pot before taking its photo. Sorry!

 

 And then there were Easter things, and a pretty, cotton tablecloth.

 

So that's that! It felt really good to get back to doing something that I love!

I've missed blogging too. And I appreciate that many of you checked up on me while I was away. It's great to have such sweet friends out there.

 

Hey- I know you'll think I'm CRAZY, but I've already been thinking about hosting a x-mas swap again this year. And I think I've thought of something fun. So keep it in mind for when the time comes. ;)

A Few Finds and What's Going On!

Hi Friends! I thought I'd check in. I'm sorry that there haven't been any "Market Monday's" lately, or even some posts filled with estate and flea market finds. To be honest I haven't been feeling well at all. You never know with R.A. Some days you can feel pretty good, and then you have a few weeks of terrible. Ahhh!

 

 These are the only things I've bought over the past couple weeks. The large Fire King black polka dot bowl was at the Goodwill. It's the tiniest bit faded, but I couldn't leave it there for $4.00.

 

 I've never bought china before, but I always see the prettiest pieces at the Goodwill that I go to. I finally decided to pick this Bavarian cake plate up for $3. Isn't it pretty?

 

 At the flea market a couple weeks ago I found this McCoy planter in the large size. I already have the smaller one, and I love to use it around the holidays with glass ornaments in it. I'm picturing a large bottle brush tree in this one! $3 And even the seller was surprised he had it marked so low!

 

 There is NEVER vintage x-mas at the flea market. So I was thrilled to find this stocking for $3.

 

 And these German glass birds were in a bag marked $1.00!

 

Well, I had to head back down to the Mayo last week because my right foot has been bothering me a lot. I can't believe that it's almost been a year since my surgery!

They took x-rays and the surgeon determined that the screw (it's huge) is causing some problems, and I no longer need it at this point. I guess the joint has done all the fusing and healing it's going to do.

So next Monday I go back down to have the screw removed.

I think it's going to make me much for comfortable. So here's hoping!

 

Well, just wanted you to know why I haven't been a good blogger lately. I'm hoping things get better! And I'm really excited for Halloween and Christmas. Looking forward to making things, swapping, decorating, and all that fun stuff that we do!

Thrift Store Finds: An Odd Mix!

Hi Everyone. Well, I haven't been doing too much in the thrifting/junking world lately. I've really been trying to cool it! I've got lots to sell, and need to get with the program! This week I'll be listing many things in my Etsy shop, including the things in this post...OK there are a couple things I have to keep lol!

 I think I remember my Grandparent's having this bird guide up at the cabin. The cover is so pretty! I often find Readers at my little local thrift store. They're so cute, but what do we do with them? lol This one was especially cute. I'm keeping the mint duck. And I bought the little posies for Easter crafting from Papertales on Etsy. I think they have really good prices!

 The blue swan and the puppy are unmarked, and the squirrel is marked Japan. They were at my local thrift, but the books were at the Goodwill. So funny...the Rand McNally was $1.99, which is normal for their vintage books. But then I turn over the Book About God, and it's marked $4.99! What???

So I take it up to the girl and ask her why. She goes to the back and comes out about a minute later and says it's because "That book is listed on EBay for $15.00 right now"! WHATEVER! She was really nice and let me have it for $1.99, but said I should know that in the future it all depends on what things are listed for on EBay. Don't they realize that people can list things for whatever they want to. It's how much it SELLS for that counts!

 All that being said, it's seriously one of the sweetest books I've seen.

I think it's worth about $10.

 The other day, at my local thrift, there was a pile of perfectly clean and ironed vintage hankies!

I picked out 9 of them. I still want to make a banner over my art area with them!

 This little planter was with all the other pieces above. She is marked "FLOWER, DISNEY"! I looked her up and I think she's from the 60's. You can find several of the Disney characters on EBay. Wouldn't they be fun to collect? She'll be for sale.

 I always see these handmade safety pin baskets in antique stores, so it was fun to see one "in the wild" the other day! My Valentine's decorations had just come down, but it would have been cute in that display. I rarely buy vintage jewelry, but these looked interesting. I took them home and did my research. They're both marked Sarah COV. They ended up being a good buy, and they'll go up for sale too!

Please excuse this terrible pic! lol The nice lady at the thrift gave me the glass beads and reindeer when I inquired about them. The Gurly tree, and other little pieces to craft with are perfect for

Vintage odds and ends: A vintage Hearts game, Birthday candles, and cute red horns that I'm unsure about!

Someone must need little red horns!

OK-I think this was the oddest post I've done. Very random stuff! LOL

I hope you have been finding some good things, or better yet, creating good things!

I made my first spoolie for Sandy's Easter swap! It was so much fun, I'm excited to make more.

I'll post again in a couple day. I've got some good news to share! :)
