A Tisket A Tasket...An Estate Sale Basket

A couple weeks ago I went to the 50% off day of an Estate Sale. It was a real digger of a sale! Boxes and boxes of little bits! The result is this basket of x-mas stuff that's been sitting in the corner of my dining room, just waiting for me to sort. So let's do it together, shall we?
****Note this sale showed TONS of vintage x-mas in it's ad. So I purposely didn't go on days one and two. I just want to make sure that I'm given some sort of credit for "trying" to keep the addiction at bay!
I like the little red and silver one with a basket of flowers on it. It has a Shiny Brite cap.
The ornaments at this sale must have been wonderful if these were still hanging around.
The Angel is marked JAPAN and the deer each have one antler!
What were the chances of finding that jumbo spun head again? lol
 and more supplies.
I'm somehow missing a pic of my favorite thing in the basket. But it's those XL mica covered sugar bells that say Merry Christmas on them. I hadn't seen them before!
I paid $10 for everything including the big basket. It was a fun time and best of all guilt free!
But then last weekend happened! Dang you "Vintage Christmas Buyer's Guilt"!
I spent the night out at my parent's house so I could watch their dogs while they were away. So of course I had to check out all my usual little shops. The Angel, tinsel, and hot pink Shiny Brites were at the little thrift store.
But I just had a feeling that once I took some of the vintage stuff, the manager would put out more of it. So I went back the next day! And right in the same spot were more boxes of ornaments! I'm sooo bummed about the indented ones. There were originally 8 of them, and I'm now down to 4! They break if you even glance at them!
Apparently I can't walk away from Santa Mugs. Believe me, I really do keep trying.
I think next year I might try doing a x-mas art/craft show. And I thought that this angel trim would be good to put around the tables. I don't think it's very old. I also found an ornament kit to sell!
What were the Ice Follies? Does anyone know? This has the cutest pictures in it! I suppose if I took the time to sit down and read it I would learn something!
The next day I went to my favorite Antique Store. Post to follow.
Hope you're all having a great week! I thank you so much for stopping by!
Erica :)

  1. good finds! I love the frosty pink ornie the best! I am not buying any decorations old or new this year. I already have so much!! but stuff to use as craft supplies is another story! Oh, and reindeer... those are always welcome.. Im trying to collect a herd! lol!
have fun with all your goodies.

  2. I am going to have to give you a HUGE pat on the back for not getting to the sale at 1:00 am and sleeping in your car! Tons of vintage Christmas & YOU WAITED UNTIL THE SECOND DAY? Good girl :-)

I have got to know your plan for the Gloria angel. Craftiness? Market Monday? Keeping her just to love her because her name is Gloria?

  3. The ice follies were a show on ice( everyone one ice skates) If you have heard of Disney on ice kind of the same thing.
    great finds.

  4. I went to four thrifts yesterday and did not get one Christmas item - how bad is that?? You found great stuff, but then you always do!!! Nice!!!

  5. You find the most adorable things!! You know I don't live that far away from you. Want to share your secret thrift and antique shops?? I love estate sales! I of course, would never get up at 1am and sleep in my car, I'm much to lazy. I guess the early girl, gets the good stuff!! Happy Crafting and Selling!! ~ Diane

  6. Good for you for showing restraint! It's such a pain in the ass to not be able to go to every sale and buy all kinds of goodies. Bills and stuff getting in the way of our fun...
That giant spun head angel is great! And I really love the indents, even though they are super fragile.
Oh, and I'm contemplating getting your gnome and mushroom Putz house...It would totally match the one I bought from you last year!

  7. What a great score. I was at an antique store a couple of weekends ago and found some indents but someone had broke the center. So bummed.

  8. I think you and I need to start a vintage Christmas support group. Love, love, love all your latest acquisitions. HUGS!!

  9. Great find! I often go the last day and find the best treasures! I remember hearing about the Ice Follies a ice skating show

  10. I love going the last day to's like picking out the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree for me....stuff no one else wants! I'm sure your treasures will love living with a vintage lover like you!!

  11. Lots of great goodies! I love your Gloria Angel and those two tiny little red Santas. The Ice Follies was an iceskating show. I never saw that one, but did go to the Ice Capades once in the late 60's/early 70's.

  12. Oh! love all the goodies!!! I got some of those hot pink Shiny Brites last week, they were in a Franke box with some other red balls. Yesterday I got gold ones in a different box--didn't see the Shiny Brite collars until I sorted them into my bins. Even though they were only gold, it was exciting that they were Shiny Brite!

My mom had a thing for ice staking, was looking into it for me and my brother to become a pair. Too expensive for people without money. We went into ballet instead. I remember going to Holiday on Ice, ice skating was big back then.

  13. You hit the jackpot-again! Love the ornaments. I remember going to the ice Follies-it was an ice skating show-like Ice Capades. Lots of fun!

  14. OK, first I'm giving you credit...but ummm, reading farther down the post I'm takikng it away, LOL! Great scores, would have done the same. Love that sweet angel. Ice Follies, Ice Capades, Holiday on Ice, all the same shows on ice.

  15. Cute cute finds. Love the angel.

    xo Danielle

  16. I commend you for at least trying to keep the addiction at bay!!! You still found some great finds. Love the vintage Christmas header.

  17. Oh you little Christmas treasure hunter! Lots of goodies for sure! I think you should rent space at a shop and have a craft sale!

  18. Amazing colours ;) I just feel christmas time <3

I follow you beautiful blog. I hope you will follow me back and I will wait for you in my blog

  19. Wowsa... for this being the 50% off day you sure got a lot. You better believe I would've been first in line opening day if they had pictures showing goodies like this!

  20. I can't remember this post so today when I saw the Ice Follies book I was so surprised! Before there was Disney on Ice there was the Ice Follies and Ice Capades shows. I remember going downtown to the Minneapolis Convention Hall when I was eight years old to see the show!!
