Our Little Yard In The Woods

What we love most about our new place is that we live in the woods. This townhouse association was probably built in the 60's, and that's what the buildings themselves reflect. But it's ok, because we can't really see them! lol Everything is covered in dense forest.
Are these chairs cute or obnoxious? Angie and I weren't quite sure when we found them on sale at Target the other night. But we needed chairs, and they are comfy!

This is our patio off of our living room. See what I mean? There's our closest neighbor!
And the worn patch of ground cover at the top of the hill? We have a bird feeder there. And we get so many rabbits, squirrels and ducks that they have worn it down to just dirt! We love watching all the nature around here!

Wellie wanted me to show you her wienee statue!

And I found this plant stand at the flea market a couple weeks ago! The flowerless plants are Gerber Daisies, but I killed them within days!

I loved the old mix of chippy blue and green paint on this when I saw it!

About a month ago my Mom planted Hosta clippings around the yard for us. Well they just exploded! I can't believe how fast they took off!
*yes I know I need to get all those weeds out of there! lol

A few weeks ago we went to Lowe's and they had these hanging baskets marked down to $1.00 because they were in such bad shape. They didn't look too bad to us, so we took two of them. They've turned out to be the best plants ever! And they even self-dead-head!

You are WELCOME as you come up our little walkway.

We have a retaining wall near our front door, and we discovered some vines coming through the rocks! I thought it was Ivy, but my Mom thinks it's Morning Glory. That would be great!

Ernie wanted to show you his cocker spaniel statue too.

Ribbitt!

These old iron pieces were at the Bachman Idea House a few years ago. I just made a little corner piece on the patio with them. I think I'm going to plant a vine there though, because the rabbits eat whatever's in the pot!

OK, well that's that! Just thought I'd show you a little more of "the new house".
We love living here, and it's turned out to be a really nice area!
I hope you all are having a great week. Thank you so much for following!
Erica :)

  5. Just lovely! I will miss the woods so much but I'm enjoying town, too.

I hit the clearance rack for flowers all the time. I just pinch everything back and pamper them a bit. It's a good and inexpensive way to fill up your pots and garden AND you save some plants from being thrown away!

  6. Wow, that looks like the freaking rain forest, not Minnesota! I love all your little touches around your house. And that morning glory is such a nice surprise!
We can't really have any plants here because our wildlife, ravenous deer, will eat everything. I saw one yesterday leaning on someones deck railing to get to a hanging plant. Crazy little buggers.

  7. I am so happy that you girls are enjoying your new place! Those chairs, obnoxious? Not by my standards! The brighter, the better. Maybe you will come across some amazing clamshell chairs this Summer:-)

Hanna & I often talk about "running away" and living together. We'd definitely have to live in the woods. Hanna is a nature girl and when the two of us get together, it's best to keep us as far away from civilization as possible. Ha ha!!

  8. Wow, how lush it all looks! Picture my yard as hot, dry, rocks and a pine tree or two......that's it! I'm even too ashamed to post pictures of it. You are blessed!

  9. I love, love your back yard. I wish we had woods like that, but we would have to do A LOT of planting. It probably feels good just to sit out there in the shade.
Hope you are having a great day.

  21. Erica, those chairs remind me of Braniff Airlines during the 60's and 70's. You are probably too young to remember that stuff...
