I went to Annie's, my favorite antique store in my home town.
You guys are probably getting so sick of my x-mas posts. If you can just bare with me through Dec.
I promise I'll take a good long break from bringing home x-mas stuff!
Won't this Snow Ball box be great for displaying with my vintage Snowmen?
So first I have to tell you that everything was marked super cheap. Like .50 to $2.00.
And because I want to do a Christmas craft show next year I just started scooping things up.
I was super excited to find lots of little deer!
These will be great in a wreath!
A cute little gang!
Lots of bells and even a reindeer with TWO antlers this time! lol
A medium sized wreath.
And pretty ornaments.
But you won't believe what happened. This is a store that I've been shopping at since I was about 15. And it's a small town (or it used to be) where everyone pretty much knows each other. I love this place so much. First of all, even if only one woman is scheduled to work, there is always at least four of them sitting at the big table by the register just talking and drinking coffee. And they're all "little old ladies" if I may use those words.
Almost everything that I bought came from the same booth, and that woman was there...drinking coffee of course. And as I went to pay she said "Give her half off of everything".
And I said "Nope, absolutely not"! And we argued back and forth and I said "How about 10% off, that would be wonderful?" And she said "You better take half because tomorrow I'm going to put a sign up that says half off of all Christmas". Fine! :)
She went home then, and the other ladies told me not to worry about it because they know that her house is PACKED and she just needs to sell stuff.
So that was a fun day in my home town. I'm heading back out to my parent's house now to load up all of my bins of x-mas decorations. I store them there because I just don't have the room. I promise that I won't stop at any of the shops! lol
Hope you're all having a great day! It's snowing here in MN!

That's awesome! And NEVER take a break from Christmas posts, I love them. Could never get sick of them. I just picked up some vintage Santas 10 mins ago & am now on the bus inbetween thrift shops reading your.blog. Immediately after finding the Santas I thought of you.
ReplyDeleteBTW is that a vintage ceranic (or something) pixie with felt clothes? I just saw one of 'em but he was chipped. I had a heartskipabeatmoment because I haven't found a pixie in a thrift.. only once.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great story! You can post all the Christmas posts you want because my name is Holly and I love Christmas!! ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun story. I love that you got to meet the lady that had the neat old stuff. It will mean more to you now. I always look for pixies and deers...and pretty Shiny Brites. Of course I really love it all. I don't think I've ever found a red deer! Sweet hugs!

What sweet Christmas finds and sounds like such a wonderful shoppe! I might need to fly out to go visit! ;) The shoppes here are so different, and very LA. which I am not so fond of. Can't wait to move to a small town! Have fun with all your goodies! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteI always love to see what you have found, it is so much fun. What a sweet lady. You got some really great Christmas treasures. A Christmas fair sounds like so much fun. Small towns are best.

I will never grow tired of your Christmas posts. Keep them coming. How wonderful that you have a special shop where the ladies take good care of you. My absolute favorite antique store dealer no longer has a booth at the antique store near my home. She was my go-to dealer. I miss her stash and her prices. You are a lucky lady! Christmas hugs!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great story! I want to go to there. Love all your finds!
ReplyDeleteGina
Have fun with your treasures!
ReplyDeleteScore!! I was there 2 weekends ago and found nothing :( I was hoping for some christmas treasures. Im still hoping to come shop at your house!!
ReplyDeleteThose little ladies are so cute sitting there. Did the one with the booth in the back corner give you the deals? Sign me up for the craft event, I dont care when it is, im in :) im harriette and I love chrsitmas too!!
As long as you keep finding all this great stuff, I'll be reading about it and wishing, along with a few other readers, that we were right there with you!
ReplyDeleteI second that!
DeleteHalf off of everything, wow! Good for you girl! I love all of the little reindeer and elves! The snowball box is super cute too! Never tire of seeing your vintage finds!
ReplyDeletehugs,

Oh Erica, you are such a lucky ducky to have snow!!!! I wish and wish it will snow here in NC if not in our town please snow in the mountains where we can be there within 30 to 45 minutes!! I love snow!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are finding tons of great Christmas goodies! I wish I was that lucky. Hubby and I are watching the Halmark Movie Channel this evening! We saw a Holiday Affair and now watching It Happened on Fifth Avenue! They have decorated a tree in each movie! I so wish these movies were in color! Hubby wants to do a vintage tree one year so I told him well we will have to search for shiny brite ornaments, flocked deer, knee huger elfs, lots of plastic flowers, and of course color lights and that lovely tinsel or ice cicles!!
Hope Wilma is doing well! I have a Slice die cut machine by Making Memories for trade! If you know anyone that would like a mint in the box diecut machine, please send them to my blog! I am willing to trade for just about anything that I collect or like! I ordered it when I was in the hospital for 4th back surgery and it was the 2nd surgery in 4 months! I was in pain, not able to sleep, watching late night infomericals and ordered it. Which was stupid because I had a Cricut machine at home! So, when it arrived in Dec. My son put it our in my craft room and I didn't find it until April and it was too late to send it back! So, it has sat in my craft room for over 4 years! It is still in the box it arrived in! I have never opened the slice machine itself! So, it is a good deal and I would be happy to get it to someone that would use it!
Hugs,
Lynn
And now I'm inspired to get back to the hunt, so many beautiful Christmas finds here!

I'm never tired of vintage Christmas beauty shots! Keep em coming! :) So fun that you got all of those goodies for such fantastic prices!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh what a thrilling experience that must have been! Fun treasures!
ReplyDeleteNEVER stop the Christmas posts. I found someone who is as crazy about vintage Christmas as me. I buy it all year, every chance I get! I'm just SUPPPPERRRR jealous of your awesome finds! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great deal for all your fun finds! I love those little flocked deer.
ReplyDeleteEVERY single thing you bought is so awesome!!! Way to go! I have totally gotten skunked this year on buying any vintage Xmas items and it is literally breaking my heart. I am now going to live vicariously through you! I've never had a drought before on vintage Xmas items but I seriously haven't bought anything this fall! Crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't apologize for all the vintage Christmas, silly girl! I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say BRING IT ON!! That little elf/pixie in the first photo is the same one that Maddie recently found that I haven't blogged about yet. Did you know it is from a set of three? Super cute!
ReplyDeleteSuper jealous of the snow. All we get here is rain but we don't have to drive to far to find snow. I usually make Brian take me out of town once a year to Bend where it snows like crazy just so I can get my fix. But I would love to have a day or two of it here. My dogs would have so much fun and be so cute!
Erica
I love seeing your Christmas finds!!! And what a sweet "little old lady"!! Lucky girl!!!

And I am just getting caight up on things (been out in the workshop non-stop)…saw your comment about the nasty lady. Isn't it a shame there are cranky people out there? Oh, well. Happy weekend and Happy thanksgiving! Cackie
