My Sellers Hoosier and Pyrex: Done!

This was the first project that I tackled once we moved into our townhouse. I found this great old "Seller's Hoosier" at my favorite antiques store for only $100.00. I bought it last fall, and it had been hanging out in my parent's garage...just waiting for me to make it cute again!

I chose Martha Stewart's "Duck Egg" paint color, and only painted the doors and drawers, leaving the old white paint as is. (sorry...too much haze in this pic)

Then it was time to load it up with Pyrex!

I think it looks as pretty as I'd imagined, if you don't mind my saying! lol
My Mom found me that orange "ombre" colored bowl, and it's one of my favorites!

The brown and pink stripes were my Grandma Glo's. Last year I was at her apartment and I said "You MUST have some Pyrex somewhere"! And so she dug way back into her kitchen cupboards and pulled them out..."How about these"? She said!  LOL
Thank you Grandma!

Of course, I wasn't able to fit it all up top, so the bottom holds the other half, or held the other half I should say.  Because all this Pyrex (as pretty as it is)  gave me a not so great feeling. A "Hoarderish" type feeling. Did I really need 20 casseroles? 50 bowls? LOL
And so I took it all down! Then I chose my favorite pieces to keep. I posted about 65 pieces for sale on Craigslist, and there is a woman now on her way from SD to MN to pick it all up!

I kept every piece that was gifted to me, all Butterprint, New Dots, my pie plates and loaf pan, and several others. I redid the Hoosier, and I swear it looks just as full! LOL
I'll show the RE-DO soon!

Thank You for visiting! :)
p.s See You for Market Monday, the 3rd at 5:00 central time!

  7. Eeeeeeeek!!!!! I'm DYING!! That hoosier is amazing. I love the color you picked to accent it. I'm definitely going to have to pick up some for my summer projects. I can't believe you sold 65 pieces of your Pyrex to one person. You lucky gal (or maybe she is the lucky one). I recently just purged my Pyrex AGAIN and have some major ebay-ing to do once the kids get out of school.

Off to Farm Chicks this morning. I couldn't sleep at all last night I'm so dang excite.

  8. That is a thing of beauty to behold for sure! I love the way you arranged everything.
I'm glad you are no longer feel like a Pyrex hoarder. That's why I knew I had to limit myself to the three colors early on. I know my tendency to hoard is very real. Excited to see the next pictures of your lovely cabinet!

  19. Your collection looks so nice! That lady is way lucky. I'd love my Grandma to whip those stripes out of her cupboard. My Grandpa through out all my Grandma's Pyrex (among other things) when she went into a home... since she won't be using it anymore.

  26. WOW......I don't think I've ever seen that much Pyrex in one place! I'd feel guilty if I didn't use them all, so I'd probably be crazy enough to make 50 casserole's!!!! ;o)

A very pretty display girlfriend, and I love your hoosier......I've always wanted one, but prices out here are outrageous. I wouldn't be able to find that kind of piece for less than $800.

    Hugs,
    Meri

  28. Beautiful! I love what you've done with it, all of your colorful Pyrex really pops against the white. Such great curves on the cabinet, fantastic job indeed!

  29. Wow! That Pyrex collection is to die for!!! I know how you feel though - I sometimes go through my collection and feel like a hoarder too. I then purge some stuff. It certainly doesn't stop me from buying more in any case. That is great that someone from Craigslist came to buy. Hope you made some $.
    Enjoying your blog. Great stuff!
