Since Christmas :)

Here's an example of why I love my little hometown thrift store. This Hazel Atlas Egg Nog set was there about a week before x-mas, and it was marked $2.00. What??? That same day there was a Clay Aiken American Idol ornament in the glass case for $8.00! LOL I wanted to get that ornament for my sister in law (as a joke) so bad! But no way was I going to spend $8.00 for Clay! Haa!

It's hard to tell but the two German trees in the front are green, and they were given to me by my sister and her boyfriend for x-mas. They didn't even know how perfect they'd fit in with my pink and silver ones! They also gave me the sweet Rand McNally book with the deer!

Last Friday I went into the Goodwill for the first time this year. Yes, I didn't go "thrifting" for three full weeks! I think that's a record for me. I found these little red Pyrex dishes that go with the hostess set, and this cute x-mas hankie!

I also found these two glasses for .49 each. I usually don't buy random glasses, but these were too cool!

These are all of the Santa mugs that I've acquired since x-mas. Each of them were .99 at different Goodwill's, except for the one with the cherry red nose...my favorite!!! Susie (Little Susie Homemaker) sent him to me!

The town I live in is loaded with antique shops. So I visited a couple of them for their after x-mas sales. I loved these candy striped glass ornaments from Poland for $1 each. And I think the one painted with lily of the valley is so pretty and unique. Had to grab the little angel for $1 too!

My favorite shop, Annie's, had great x-masy supplies for crafting next year!

LOL This picture is so odd. But here is what was at the thrift yesterday. Another J.Chein Co globe bank, and I love the little duck planter. McCoy I think???

OK, These are all Shiny Brites and they were marked $1.25 per bag but then they were 50% off! That's my little hometown thrift shop again. lol I don't put solid colored ones on my trees, but they'll be so perfect for wreath making and decorating next year!

You already saw the mugs but here are a couple more Santa things. The one in front is marked Japan and was $1 at Goodwill. The large Gurly Santa and the jar full of vintage cupcake toppers were each $3 at one of the shops.

OK, that's that! I've really been feeling like a pack-rat lately. So I'm going to TRY and cool it with the thrifting! Wish me luck. Haa! I'll for sure be going through a lot of my vintage things and posting them for sale on Etsy. My Christmas items are the most difficult to part with, so there probably won't be too many of those. lol
Hope you all are doing great! And HELLO to my newest followers! :)

  1. You really did very well. I can't believe the prices for some of those Christmas treasures. Seriously amazing. Best wishes staying away from thrifting. I don't think it's possible.

  3. I love it all.
& too weird for that thrift shop to have that pricing. I can see that set being in the auction at the thrift shop here & the Clay ornament being 99cents or broken by someone in the aisle.

Know nothing about the planter. I only own like 2 & I bought them because it was cute. I kill every plant.

  4. I gotta say, it's not that cheap in the metro thrifts! A good thing or my house would be over-run with vintage goodies! Sales at antique stores? Thrift prices that cheap? UNBELIEVABLE! Working two jobs I have been thrifting twice this year! Yesterday was 1/2 price for the holiday, today too. I went and spent 4.00! Hee Hee!

  5. Erica--NEVER "cool it" with the thrifting my friend! Oh, what fabulous finds--I'm so very jealous! (Except for the egg nog set--I have the very same one!)

Wish I had a bunch of antique/thrift shops in our town--just a couple, and they're SO overpriced!

    Wishing you a wonderful night!

  8. I have to tell you that I saw some of the mates to that carousel glass you found, at a vintage shop near me last week. They were really cute and I almost bought them.

  16. Crazy girl. Don't you know that once you are bitten by the thrifting bug, you are infected for life? Your pics look exactly like ones that would show up on our blog! I love the thrifts at Christmas and bought tons (shocking, I know). Love it all but especially the Libby Carosel glass. You will have to be on the lookout for the rest of the set now, especially because you won't be giving up thrifting:-)

  19. It's really neat how we each have our own collecting "style!" I actually collect random single "orphan" glasses. I like seeing them in the cupboard...stripes, dots, strawberries...etc. They may not make much impact on their own...but are so cute in a crowd! =D

  20. Hello Erica,
I wish we had some good thrift stores around here....our goodwill is picked over by the workers and they leave things like empty damaged boxes and things that are broken badly on the shelves for months...I use to donate to them...but when I do I never see my stuff displayed for sale ...it's really bad. I love those Christmas ornaments

  21. Oh Lord, you're killing me Erica!! I never see such good finds at the thrift store! I'm going to have to move, I guess! That little deer with the red scarf book is so sweet. I used to collect those odd pretty glasses, too but I put some in the dishwasher and all the color washed off! :-)
Have a great week, I am mailing out my Valentine to Laura today at lunch. I had fun making it.

  22. Such great stuff. I went our once or twice recently but didn't see a whole lot. Estate sales here have pretty much come to to a halt for the season. I live near several Goodwill stores but I can't even remember that last time I found something good in one that wasn't horrifically overpriced. I found a bunch of Santa Mugs this year at 2 different eststate sales. I loved having them displayed at Christmas time. Only 11 more months until I can drag tham back out again :)

  23. I'd say you did really good at the thrifts. All it takes is one really great goody and it really makes it a good thrifting day. Cute cute stuff!

  24. I am so jealous! $2 for the punch set!!! Your Thrift Stores are awesome! I find that our local thrifts are pricey - but, I'm in the Palm Springs area, so that might be why. Good for YOU!

  25. Such fun!!! Like you, I have to limit my thrift store visits to twice a month . . . for the local one!!! Your pyrex red dish/bowls are wonderful!

  28. Wow you have really scored some "goodies"! Our Goodwill stinks! Literally! The only place to find cool vintage is yard and estate sales!
