Hi All- I can't believe it's been a week since I posted! I was busy collecting cute things! There are so many sales and flea markets all of a sudden! So I've been trying hard to keep my Etsy shop full of new things.
Well, yesterday I was eating Cracker Jacks while I was working on my Etsy. And this inspired me for a blog posting! Right now Costco is selling jumbo boxes of Cracker Jacks, and LOOK at the cute vintage graphics! They're using the original box instead of the newer version.
Pretty cute huh? We've been eating them for weeks around here, because you get like 40 boxes. lol
Here are some of the little prizes that come inside. Blah!
Can I please have a few of these Metal or Plastic choking hazards (too cute) instead of...
this paper garbage! Do any of you have some of the vintage Cracker Jack Toys? I've been very tempted! There are some really cute celluloid ones for sale on Etsy. They'd be cute to make necklaces with.
When I was fifteen years old I started to get into antiques and vintage things. These red mugs were the first thing I bought. Somewhere, packed away, I have a few of the cobalt blue swirl pieces. My favorite being a big collander. I bought this little flag for a quarter at a garge sale the other day. It's old and soft...love it!
Thank you for visiting my blog today! I'm linking up with Sue for REDNESDAY RIGHT HERE! Be sure to head over there for tons of red cuteness!
I'm also linking up with Coloradolady, For Vintage Thingie Thursday Here! You'll see lot's of vintage treasures over there!
I love your REDS! Those cups are awesome! I would grab those in a flash if I could!

I had an aunt that had a whole box of cracker jack metal prizes. I say at least make them a plastic then the plastic.

I want a box of Cracker Jacks!!
ReplyDeleteLove the vintage cracker jack boxes. I haven't seen any of the old prizes but I remember having them. Wish I would have saved them. Darn! It's starting to look a little patriotic around your place-love the red mugs! Happy Reds.
ReplyDeleteI must find those Cracker Jack boxes! I don't have a Cosco membership, I wonder if they are in the grocery store in that packaging! FUN FIND! Say, where are the fleas? I went to Gold Rush in Mayoland last Sat. Perfect walkin' around weather!

Enjoyed your Cracker Jack presentation. I have had many of those back in time.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the choking hazard, but give me the old plastic prizes instead of the garbage they put in there these days! Love those vintage style boxes!
ReplyDeleteHappy REDnesday,
Carol
Love the vintage style boxes!! So fun!! Your red enamelware cups are so pretty!! Love the marble look!! Have a great day!! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, love the red mugs.
ReplyDeleteI am old enough to remember getting the neat prizes in Cracker Jack. My Grandma collected the toy prizes--she has a big collection.
Ate my share of cracker jacks. Our favorite though was a mom and pops popcorn store I passed on the way to school. 40 years later, they are still in business but now a huge operation. I was just in Kansas City for mothers day and my hubby bought me 3 bags. Cinnimon, cheese and white chocolate. Now, to share and not eat it all. Hope you can stop by. Visiting from Vintage Thursday. Blessings, Debbie
ReplyDeleteErica, I thought I'd come back here to answer your question. I have a wool stash made up of tons of recycled clothes and felted sweaters. Glad you liked my little mice. Maybe I'll make up a few more. They are kind of fun. Have a great weekend!

Hi, Erica! I've just found your lovely blog, and I'm a new follower...so nice to "meet" you!
ReplyDeleteBest,

Erica, Really enjoyed your cracker jack post this week.
ReplyDeleteWanted to let you know I'm passing the Kreativ Blogger award on to you!
Come see the post on my blog. Pam
I saw a plastic bag full of old Cracker Jack trinkets at an antique show this past week-end. The first thing I thought was "choking hazzard.", hah.
ReplyDeleteJust love the Cracker Jacks!!! And yes, I agree with you, I will take the chocking hazards, my whole generation grew up on these, I bet there weren't that many who died from chocking on these! It is called parental observation and common sense! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I am anxious to see your vintage edging! Sandy
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteI, too, am one of those who misses the "real prizes" in Cracker Jacks! When I get one of the paper ones...I don't even open it up...It's goes straight to the trash can! I miss all the nostalgic trinkets...and, they really are a part of some of my fond childhood memories! I promise I never chewed or sucked on one of them to risk choking...Frankly, I never even considered it as a child of five!
I love your darling blog! Red is my favorite color and Rednesday is something I look forward to!
I am tickled to become one of your fond friends and folowers and will enjoy visiting you, often!
Blessings,
Carolynn
Hi, guess who's going to go to Costco tomorrow? Ha-ha! I love the old fashioned Cracker Jack toys. The new paper ones just don't even compare. I hopped over from Pam at Virginia Retro. I love collecting vintage and Red is one of my favorite colors. Love your cute tin cups! I am now a new follower.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
