Pink Saturday: Getch Ur Ticket!

Well, It's my very first PINK SATURDAY And as you can imagine it wasn't too difficult for me to come up with something to share. So here are THREE things to get me going on this weekly tradition. Enjoy!
My first pick is this pretty tablecloth that I bought at the Buffalo Nickle last week. It was only $6.00, and it's huge! I love the Dogwood Blossoms on it too.
My friend Bette gave me a nice down pillow the other day. I really want to cover the pillow in this cloth.
If you look closely, you can see my new "Shabby Chic by Rachel Ashwell" duvet cover in the background. Can you believe I scored it (plus the shams) at the GoodWill last week for $29.97 total ?
It had never even been opened!
I have this huge roll of vintage pink tickets, and they come in so handy! I use them in my art, as tags on gifts, labels on packages for Etsy, and I also tuck them in as a little extra to my customers sometimes. Love them!

And lastly is the cutest little dolly dress ever! Only I don't have a doll to put it on! Uh oh! Might have to put that on my flea marketing list! Happy Pink Saturday everyone! It was fun. :)

Rednesday: Raspberries Make Me Miss Grandma :)

I found this pretty little plate last night when I was at the Goodwill. The back is marked "Nippon", "Hand painted". I know very little about dishes and china etc. But I knew it was worth more than the $1.50 I paid for it. I bought it though because I have a thing for raspberries.

When I was little I would pick berries with my sweet and tiny Grandma at the patch up the hill from our cabin. She taught us how to get down real low and look up...underneath the bush. That's the way you don't miss any! Inevitably, my sister or I would stumble and fall down the rocky hill on the way back to the cabin. There the berries would go. Skinned Knees! Tears! As I'm writing this I'm wondering why Grandma ever let us go with her! We ate more berries than we put in our buckets, and then we spilled them coming home!
Oh I miss her so much...my sweet, sweet little Grandma. :)

I found this cute Easter Postcard at my favorite Antiques Shop the other day.
I thought with her darling red coat, she'd be good for Rednesday. Feel free to take this image if you'd like!

Happy REDNESDAY everyone! Be sure to visit Sue to see more REDNESDAY here!

Easter Items For Sale!

After my post a couple days ago showing some of my vintage Easter items, I'm feeling very guilty about how much stuff I have! Do you ever feel like you're just accumulating too much? I'm getting nervous because flea market/garage sale season is just about to start. This is when I'm loving life the most! Through the cold winter months here in Minnesota, I can't tell you how much I look forward to the sunny days when I hit the road by 6:00 a.m to go saleing. I stop for a venti latte, turn up my music, and I'm on my way! I'm usually done by noon or so, and I've found TONS of wonderful vintage things. But do I need "tons of wonderful vintage things"? Totally Not! I figure if I sell a couple of them, I won't feel quite so guilty...plus I'll be making room for more things! Haaa! :)
Here are a few finds that I'm listing on ETSY tonight.

She's actually one of my creations! Made of paper mache and hand painted, she holds a spun cotton carrot. That gorgeous purple delphinium is a vintage milliners piece. See more pics at my Etsy shop!

These are wonderful, and large! Vintage, and not made by me this time.
I'm selling them individually. See them here.

I've embellished this paper mache egg basket! The sides now have glittered German Scraps, and the top has a sweet bouquet of sugared berries and glass mercury beads. Find this for sale in my Etsy shop!

The Challenge! VOTE NOW!

Well, I signed myself up for my first ever art challenge awhile back. And I have to say that once I realized the talent level of the other artists I was working with, I was sort of freaking out! The only clay sculpting I had done up until that point were small pieces that didn't need a supporting structure underneath.

The challenge was hosted by Patrick over at www.CreatingTheHive.com. I should have known what I was getting myself into just based on his talent alone! But anyway...here is what we were to do:
Choose a copyright free Easter postcard image. We were then to turn that image into our own 3-D sculpture. This could be with clay, fabric, more paper, metal...it was up to us.  So that's the postcard that I chose above. I thought she was pretty cute with her two baskets full of eggs! OK...

Here's my version! Yes...she's much more "folk-arty" than the postcard girl is. But I learned a lot about my style of art. And I guess that's all I was trying to do in the first place. I just couldn't bring myself to paint her whiter, or to give her hair like the picture shows. I also decided to make her a candy container, because I collect antique ones, and just think they're neat.
You can see the beautiful work of all the participants in this challenge, and you can even VOTE on who you think represented their card the best! LOL Yep...can't say I even came close to doing that!
But it was so much fun!

Vintage Thingie Thursday: Easter Things

I dug out a box marked "Vintage Easter" tonight. At first I thought..."Oh Cute Stuff!" Then I thought "You are crazy! Who has this much junkie old Easter stuff?" The worst part is that I know there are more boxes marked "Vintage Easter"! How did I get to be this way? I have friends who wouldn't put one of these old chenille chicks in their homes for anything! But to me this is not "junkie old Easter stuff"! To me it is just the sweetest "stuff" ever!
Have a Happy Vintage Easter!

My favorite fleamarket is where I found the paper-mache bunnies. I'm counting down the days until it starts back up! May 1st. can't get here fast enough!

This J.CHEIN & CO. Tin Rabbit pulling his basket was an Ebay splurge for me last Easter!

Ok, I guess there was another Ebay splurge last year...that antique rabbit candy container on the left. But I keep him out year round! So he's a little more justified. Love those spun cotton bunny picks so much that I can't imagine opening them. The pair of yellow chicks are Gurley Candles, and the pink basket they're in is a Rosen candy container. I just found that cute turquoise dish at the thrift store yesterday for $1.00! HELP ME!

I'm 34 years old now. Sometimes I wonder what will happen if I keep collecting at this rate. If I watch an episode of Hoarders; Buried Alive...it usually prevents me from going to the thrift store for a couple of weeks. Haaaa :)

Trapp Private Gardens

I decided to do a post on my absolute favorite brand of candles ever! I've been burning Trapp Candles for many years now, and every time I do, I actually feel sorry for candle lovers that don't know about this brand! If I had an actual "brick and mortar" gift shop, I would sell these. You won't find anything like vanilla cupcake or apple cinnamon with Trapp! Right now I'm burning "Burmese Wood" in my bedroom, and "Mediterranean Fig" by my computer desk. They're candles are a little pricier than most votives, but they're strong even when they aren't lit. Try them! You'll be hooked! :)

Happy St.Pats Day

Wishing Everyone a Happy St. Patricks Day!

Cute Red Things

I've got to show you these great Raku pottery Hearts! I found these large beads for sale on Etsy by http://www.etsy.com/shop/oscarcrow . He makes the most amazing beads, jewelry and doll faces! Check him out. I can't wait to make a cool necklace with one of these hearts! My other RED find to show you turned up at an Estate Sale last weekend! My very first sale of the season! I was so excited when I saw that sign. lol! He was only $5.00, and is about 3.5 inches tall. I love that you can insert a large x-mas light into him. He's just perfect for my collection. Does anyone else have him? He isn't marked, so I don't know his year or maker. Maybe I'll be able to look him up in my Christmas Collectibles Book!
